The Warlords of Draenor 6.2 patch suddenly dropped on us this past Tuesday and while there’s a fair bit to see and do, who cares about most of that—there’s also a new raid tier! Hellfire Citadel is made up of thirteen bosses and about thirteen thousand minibosses, and we went in and killed most of them on normal, and also both of Siegemaster Mar’tak’s phases (Hellfire Assault and Iron Reaver) on heroic. We’d like to have done more but the inevitable connection problems that occur both during patch week and when your raid with a 14.4k modem sadly cut our time short. Ah well, there’s always next week, by which point most of the more obnoxious bugs should also have been squashed!
I remember the first couple times we got to Kromog on Normal/Heroic, Kattii was fascinated by his butt. Apparently, it’s really attractive to a subset of people in this guild—not surprising, but I don’t personally see anything super amazing about it. I mean sure, it’s probably rock hard, but… I prefer a little squish, myself. I dunno. Different folks, different strokes, etc. Anyway. Disconnects and power issues are the eternal bane of any raiding guild, but even with the past couple days being entirely unreliable, Kromog has fallen and that puts us at 6/10 MBRF, woo!
Something horrifying happened after tonight’s Gruul kill—suddenly, everybody was saying kind things to one another! “Good job, tanks!” “Solid work, healers!” As the cold, heartless, brutal backseat dictator that I (pretend I) am, this was shocking. There were all these… feelings… that have no place in my chest.
I’m just kidding of course, but Gruul was a nice change of pace from the usual—slow, steady, almost relaxingly methodical, with very little RNG and overall very little proper progression and learning of the fight required. From a DPS perspective, I suppose he’s as close as we get these days to a proper Patchwerk fight, so maybe that’s why. He’s boring, but in the good way!
Anyway, that puts us at 5/10 MBRF—technically halfway done with this (part of the) tier!
